it's beginning to look a lot like...

our super, jose, put up TONS of lights in the lobby and outside on the front of our building. i got quite the shock when i stepped out of the elevator and saw all this cheer strewn around. i've heard some people poking fun at jose's work, but i happen to like it. coming up soon i'll post some good pictures of the lights downtown around 5th avenue... a sight to see, but they've got nothing on jose.

andres won't admit it, but he likes it, too. see how it made him dance?

it's been a while, but i forgot to post this picture. after that horrible day of missing my flight and trying to finish a 10 page paper in an airport without my books and my printer didn't work and a homeless man wept and sought not money, but my advice as i was on my way to class very late to turn the paper in....after ALL this, there was only one thing that could make me feel right. thank you popeye's chicken. thank you brooklyn brewery.

a victim of deliciousness

i flew back to new york the monday after thanksgiving. security lines weren't too bad, and i made it to my gate in plenty of time. i was coffeeless, since you can't bring any drinks through security, and starving. when i got to my terminal there was no reliable coffee in sight (hey, i'm picky). there was an Edy's Ice Cream - how can they be trusted? a deli with a line out the door... i checked at my gate and they said it would be a few minutes before they boarded, so i decided to brave the deli line since it was the only place to eat, making sure i could still hear any announcements. well, apparently i couldn't hear, because they boarded my flight and left without me. no big deal, i just caught the next flight at noon, but it made finishing the last 6 pages of my 10 page paper that was due at 5 pm much more stressful - thank goodness for laptops. all for a breakfast sandwich.

things i saw: my plane leaving without me

things i ate: sausage and egg on wheat toast

thanksgiving part I

for thanksgiving i went to washington, DC for my cousin, karen's wedding. i saw:

my sisters!
and abraham lincoln! (his eyes look a little scary here)

this thing!

we had to take a LONG creepy escalator every day when we left the hotel.

this stained glass of a gnome was in an irish pub we went to after sightseeing for a "cheeky beer" as my brother-in-law says.

best chicken on a stick

the best street chicken i've found so far has got to be this guy in astoria on broadway at 32nd street. his stuff in a pita is to die for, you don't even need condiments. and i love condiments.
